Experience

I'm Gabriela. I studied chemistry and philosophy at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. I am currently finishing my two majors at University of Central Florida. I used to be a math tutor and teacher assistant at Valencia College for one year. By the time I worked with Valencia I had to work with different students at the same time. I always assured to sit with them and help them to find where they were struggling. I thought them breaking down step by step each exercise and also letting them view it from different perspectives and mechanisms to solve each problem as well. I always like to be organized and make a sketch plan of the chapter we are going to cover so the student know where he is and what is he heading to. When I was on high school I used to sell reviews for tests on the subjects of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Algebra, Pre-Calculus and Spanish Reading Comprehension with theory and practice that proved to be very effective. I also edited essays on Spanish and reviewed chemistry lab informs. I have experience teaching in both languages (English and Spanish). I like to motivate my students by getting to know each other, what are they likes, their goals. Usually what they don't like is because they don't understand it well, but by tutoring I've learned that once they understand what they are doing and start doing it better by themselves, they get an extreme excitement and gratification so they want to keep learning more and more. I always give them other resources and strategies of study so they can learn how to study without me. I would like my students to grow not only on the subject I will teach them, but in general, help them with things that could be useful in their future and path of learning. As they grow as a student, I grow as a tutor and a person. I would like to become more than a tool, an inspiration. I have passed with A college level classes of Pre-Calculus I and II and Calculus I. I have taken and passed with A college level classes of General Chemistry I and II, also Analytical Chemistry. I took Honor Spanish, Hispanoamerican Literature, Spanish Redaction, Composition and Style classes in college. I am familiar doing essays and laboratory informs on Microsoft Word and Excel for college classes and labs.

Hobbies

I enjoy reading, writing, practice math for fun, going to the lake, swimming, libraries, coffee shops & book stores. I am currently working on a book I would like to publish by the end of the year. I am very familiar to work with people with mental illnesses and I find them really extraordinary that's one of the reasons why my book's tittle is called "Flirting with Madness". My career goals are to finish my degrees, get my license as a chemist and continue a phD on Neuro-Philosophy so I could be a college professor on the area.
